Chinese Academy of Sciences Celebrates 30-year Anniversary – President Zou Gives Back

2008 marks the 30-year anniversary of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. As it is the first academy of sciences appointed by China's communist party, party officials from all positions gather to celebrate 30 years of distinct education and deveopment of graduate students.

 

In the spirit of showing loyalty of appreciation for the school, BSBE President Zuojun Zou, Ph.D, representing schoolmates, presented a carved "Yuan" stone to the school along with vernment officials. The character “Yuan” means the root or the source, often used in phrases such as "drinking water while thinking for its source" and "the source may flow long and far". The character encourges students not to forget about the source of their knowledge and education. On the morning of May 10th, the stone was unveiled in a ceremony. Many vernment officals and school leaders attended.
