CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE
The level of transferrin in serum can be altered in accordance with body,s iron requirements and iron reserves, the transferrin iron would increase in plasma when the iron is decreased, the level has good correlation with the total iron binding capacity in the serum. Transferrin increased during pregnancy, controlled by estrogen and other relevant information in: anemia[1], iron deficiency, inflammation, or malignant disease, liver disease[2、3], malnutrition and protein loss.
